Lessons will take place at the student’s home. If the lesson is taking place at the student’s home, Mr. Strohmetz will generally arrive 5-10 minutes before the lesson time in order to ensure a timely start. He will contact the student or parent if he will be late. If you would prefer to have lessons at a different location, that will be considered on a case by case basis.
Each student has a guaranteed time slot, agreed upon at the beginning of each school year by Mr. Strohmetz and the student/parent. If the lesson day and time needs to be changed at some point throughout the year, please provide at least two weeks’ notice so that appropriate accommodations can be made. Lesson schedules will follow the school calendar, and if there is a break there will not be lessons. Summer lesson times will be scheduled in June.
If you cannot attend a lesson, please give at least a week’s notice – the more notice the better! With prior notice, a lesson may be cancelled or rescheduled. A minimum of 24 hours notice is necessary for a lesson cancellation. If less than 24 hours notice of a lesson cancellation is given, the student is responsible for paying for the missed lesson, which will be paid at the following lesson. Emergences, illnesses, and severe weather will be taken into account on a case by case basis.
If I need to cancel a lesson, I will notify the students as soon as possible. If the lesson cannot be rescheduled, the student will not be charged for the lesson.

Preparedness for Each Lesson
Your instrument, notebook, pencil, and all lesson books will be needed for each lesson.
Practicing
The only way to improve is through practice as this will reinforce all the great work we are doing during your lesson. We will discuss how much practice is expected each week and how to make the most of that time as well. Assignments will be written down weekly, and I expect to hear growth on the assignments the following week. It is ok to have questions and ask for help, just remember – practice makes progress!
Health
If you have any conditions which may be aggravated by playing your instrument (e.g., asthma), please let me know so that appropriate accommodations can be made.
